Head of opposition Nation Council Jamil Hasanli who left the process told journalists that Khadija was in high mood:
“She is even in higher mood than you are. Apparently she wants to turn into an accuser than a defendant. She uses ironic and sarcastic expressions in reference to judges and prosecutor and doesn’t plead guilty. Khadija Ismayil is not the subject of the accusations brought against her”.
Hasanli said the first motion regarded lawyer Yalchin Imanov’s return to the process, but it was rejected due to the fact that Imanov received honorarium from RFE/RL.
The lawyers filed a motion to repeal the case opened into incitement to suicide. Tural Mustafayev, who was allegedly incited to suicide, said he had no complaints.
Mustafayev told RFE/RL before the trial started that he had come to admit what happened and how he was forced to testify. “I’ll tell the court names of everyone who blackmailed me. I’ll reveal everything,” he said.
Several journalists were in yellow press jackets to show solidarity with Khadija Ismayil. Those jackets are used in protests usually. A reporter told RFE/RL they want to show that Khadija was arrested for her journalistic activity.
