As she read her final words today, Khadija Ismayil was cut short. Her mother says she managed to read most of it but she was cut abruplty and the court was rescheduled to tomorrow.
Only family members were allowed in. All political activists were left waiting otuside together with representatives of the UK and French embassies as well as the EU.

Today August 31, Khadija Ismayil will read her final word at the Baku Court for Grave Crimes.
She requested a week to prepare for the final statement. The judge only allowed for five.
During the hearing on August 26, Khadija Ismayil's lawyers said neither of the five charges pressed against Khadija found proof in this court and that the charges were false, and malicious.
The State Prosecutor asked for 9 years. It is likely today, August 31, following her final word, the judge will sentence her.
A number of international organizaitons agree Khadija was jailed for her investigative work exposing corruption and illegal businesses of the ruling family.
