Not one but two awards
Today, December 1, Azerbaijani journalist Khadija Ismayil was named the "Holme of the Year" by the Swedish liberal newspaper. Also today, Ismayil was listed among 100 Leading Global Thinkers issued by the Foreign Policy.
The seventh annual special issue is dedicated to the global thinkers from all over the world under the following categories: decision makers, challengers, innovators, advocates, artists, healers, stewards, chroniclers, and moguls.
Khadija Ismayil is named in the category of chroniclers.

Khadija receives another award while in jail
December 1, Swedish liberal newspaper known for its anti-Nazi stance during World War II named Khadija Ismayil, "Holme of the Year". The price is named after the hero of a Swedish literary trilogy and is given on the anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger.
Previous winners of the award include American whisteblower Edward Snowden, Julian Assange and Mexican investigative journalist Lydia Cacho.
